2021-2022 Season

Calling all young singers grades 4 through 8 in the area!

YOU are invited to join the youth choir called Cantate Young Voices, associated with Cantate Carlisle.
CANTATE means SING in Latin, and that’s what we love to do – SING!

AUDITIONS for this year’s choir will be held on Tuesdays, November 2nd, 9th, and 16th at the
Carlisle United Methodist Church on 333 South Spring Garden St. in Carlisle. Auditions will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm.

When you sign up for an audition date and time, you can also schedule four FREE COACHING SESSIONS that will help you to prepare for your audition!

REHEARSALS will begin on Tuesday January 11th, and will continue until our concerts on May 21st and 22nd. Our practices will be held at the Carlisle United Methodist Church; they will start at 5:15 pm and end at 6:30 pm.

When Cantate Young Voices begins rehearsals in January, we will practice in a very large space with great ventilation. According to the aerosol study for musicians, this type of space is similar to singing outdoors, so rehearsals will likely be a combination of in person and virtual. We will exercise an abundance of caution and will follow safe protocols, including:

  • Temperature checks
  • Wearing masks
  • Physical distancing.

The fee for the entire season of Cantate Young Voices is only $40. Scholarships are available for those who need them, and families can receive assistance for multiple singers. As a singer in Cantate Young Voices, you will receive:

  • free individual coaching sessions to prepare for your audition
  • Copies of the audition piece, and all of the concert music
  • Your own Cantate Young Voices uniform shirt

About the Director:

Hi singers and parents! My name is Beth Kammerer and this is my fifth year as director of Cantate Young Voices. I am a retired music teacher who taught choir for 20 years at Kahuku High and Intermediate School in Hawaii, where I was also the Music Learning Center Coordinator. During that time, I directed the University Chorale at Brigham Young University-Hawaii for eight years. When my husband and I retired five years ago and moved to Carlisle, we joined Cantate Carlisle and love singing with the group. Singing is a passion of mine, and I’m very excited to share my love of music with you! Please feel free to email me personally with any questions. I’m excited about this opportunity to make beautiful music with you in Cantate Young Voices, and hope to work with you soon!

Sincerely,

Beth Kammerer
