2023-2024 Season

Calling all young singers grades 5 through 8

If you love to sing, we’d love to invite you to audition for Cantate Young Voices.
CANTATE means SING in Latin, and that’s what we love to do – SING!

AUDITIONS for this year’s choir will be held November 1st, 8th, and 15th, by appointment between 5pm & 7:30pm, at Second Presbyterian Church in Carlisle.
REGISTER BELOW so that we can contact you about your coaching session and audition. We can’t wait to meet you.

You can tell from that performance how much we LOVE to sing. Cantate Carlisle boasts a dynamic youth choir annually at our Spring concert, and it is always the best performance of the year. Welcome Our New Director, Janine Shuey:

Ms. Shuey isn’t just the director of Cantate Young Voices; she is the music and chorus teacher at Eagle View Middle School. She teaches students in grades 6 through 8, which makes her perfect to work with you in this auditioned choir.

She was raised in Collegeville, PA and arrived in the area as a student at Messiah University. She earned her degree in music education with a vocal concentration and cello. After graduation, she began her teaching career in Chambersburg schools.

She first came to Cantate when our Artistic Director Michelle Trefren needed a cellist. She then auditioned as a singer and last year assisted with CYV. She’s excited to take the helm this year as your director.

Fun fact: Ms. Shuey will not (maybe cannot???) drive stick shifts.

If you need to reach out to Ms. Shuey, just send her an e-mail at [email protected]
