Calling all young singers grades 5-8!
THANK YOU for your interest in auditioning for Cantate Young Voices. This ensemble is exclusively for singers in grades 5-8 and is under the leadership of Director Janine Shuey.*
Originally named “Cantate cum Spiritum,” Cantate Young Voices was added to Cantate Carlisle in the 2009-2010 season. Students recommended by their school choir teachers auditioned, rehearsed for several months, and took the stage during Cantate’s Spring concert weekend. That tradition has continued, but students now come to CYV from many sources – through meet and greets at the Army War College, from seeing posters about town and in their schools, and of course at the urging of their teachers. Many of our singers send their friends too, which is a wonderful testimony to the excellence of CYV and our instructors.
Our gift to our young vocalists is professional instruction, vocal growth, and spending time learning with other students whom they may not have met otherwise. Witnessing their growth and the culminating performance on the historic Carlisle Theatre stage is their gift to us and to our audiences. The Spring concerts featuring our student ensembles are always a fan favorite – and with good reason.

Cantate Young Voices 2026 Audition Application
WHEN:
Auditions are by appointment. (Please use the link below to register first.) Auditions will be scheduled between 5 & 7pm on Tuesdays, November 4, 11, and 18, with November 25 as a back-up if needed.
Rehearsals begin Tuesday, January 6, 2026 and will be held from 5:30-6:30pm weekly.

Second Presbyterian Church – 528 Garland Dr., Carlisle, PA 17013 in “The Commons”
WHAT TO PREPARE:
For auditions, students will be provided with the audition piece and will meet one-on-one with Ms. Shuey.
REGISTRATION FEE:
Includes singer “uniform” tee, coaching and instruction, singing materials, and other items as needed. Payable at or before our first rehearsal, by cash, check (payable to “Cantate Carlisle” with “CYV Registration” in the memo) or can be paid with credit card.

Tuesday, 5:00-6:30pm – Beginning January 6, 2026
May 1 – Friday Dress Rehearsal at Carlisle Theatre, call time approximately 5-7pm.
May 2 & 3 – Performances at Carlisle Theatre, call time approximately an hour before concert start time through concert end. Directors will announce actual call times. Performances are 3pm on Saturday and Sunday.
