A native of Carlisle, Arthur Thompson is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in Winchester, Virginia. He has done additional studies at Ithaca College and Shippensburg University. In addition to private piano study with Yvonne Davidson, Phyllis Pulaski and Elizabeth Temple, he has studied piano pedagogy with Eugenia Evans and piano accompaniment with Susan M. Boyd. Mr. Thompson has performed in Master Classes with Robert Dumm, Evelyn Swarthout Hays, and Natalie Hinderas.
While working as a private piano instructor and coach in the Carlisle area, he has performed for various professional and civic organizations, as well as serving as Musical Director/Accompanist for over fifty mid-state theatre productions. Mr. Thompson has performed for many statewide organizations and throughout the East Coast, both as a soloist and an accompanist. Art currently serves as church organist at the historic First Presbyterian Church on the square in downtown Carlisle.
Mr. Thompson has served as accompanist for Cantate Carlisle since the group was formed in 1990.
